Nwaka was humming her favourite gospel song as she pushes her wheel barrow containing food and other items. She was on her way to her business place where she sells rice and beans.
Before then, she does not have a permanent place, she moves around with the food and sell to interested persons.
When she later discovered a building site where they have many workers. She was so happy because it minimized her stress of moving around. She stays at one of the rooms downstairs to sell her food to the builders.
As she was moving that morning, A bike rider lost control and rammed into her. All the food poured away. Tears pooled up on Nwaka’s eye as she watch all her food scattered on the ground.
“Did you drink ogogoro this morning? Why would you pour away this lady’s food” A woman asked in anger.
“I’m so sorry, I don’t know how it happened, ” the bike rider answered as he tried in vain to salvage some of the cooked white rice.
“That thing your doing there is nonsense. The woman should calculate the amount for the food so that you will pay it,” One of the men who came around told him.
“I’m finished. I don’t have any money. This bike has been in the mechanic workshop for a week. It was my neighbour that lent me money to bail it out,” the bike rider explained in tears.
“You are talking rubbish. Look at me very well, my second name is trouble. I am giving you 2 minutes to tell us how to give this lady her money. If you don’t do it, I will hand you over to the police.” The man threatened.
The bike rider sat on the floor and was shedding tears.
Having seen the situation, Nwaka has to save the day.
” I deeply appreciate you all for your concern. But I don’t want the police to be involved. I will bear the consequences of the lost.” Nwaka told them in tears.
When she got back to her house, she lay on the bed and soaked it with her tears. She kept asking God why he would allow such misfortune to befall her. She slept off while still crying.
When she woke up, she picked her phone and clicked on the Facebook app. The first picture she saw was hers with the inscription ” Rest in peace, Nwaka”. It was posted 5 minutes ago and has already gathered 50 comments. She wiped her eyes to be sure that she was not dreaming.
As her hands were already shaking, she scrolled down and saw another of her picture beside a picture of a collapsed uncompleted building. The poster wrote that she was among the people that died in the building. That was when she understood that the 10 storey building where she sells food has collapsed. She would have been there, if not that God used the bike rider to prevent her from going.
The bible said that all things work together for good to them that love God.
Some of the misfortunes that we are crying for, is allowed by God for our good.
It is better for that money to go, than for you to lose your life. It also better that you are denied that job opportunity in a factory, than for their machine to amputate your hand.
No matter what is happening now, keep hope alive. Keep moving, keep believing. By the grace of God, it shall end in praise.
Remember, if God allows it, there is a good reason for it.
Faithful Good
