Mr. Isikaku earned the trust and love of his Managing Director ( MD) because of his commitment to duty. But the General Manager hated him. The reason was that Mr. Isikaku was an honest man. He does not support any activity that would defraud the company.
The MD had been observing Mr. Isikaku, though he was not aware. He was looking for ways to reward Mr. Isikaku for his commitment and diligence.
When the company established a new branch in another city, the MD planned that Mr. Isikaku will be the manager of the new branch. When he told the General Manager of his plan for Mr. Isikaku, the General Manager was not happy. He decided to do everything within his power to ensure that Mr. Isikaku did not occupy the position.
The General Manager, paid a member of the staff to bear false witness against Mr. Isikaku. The man accused him of sabotaging the company. However, the accuser could not prove his point beyond reasonable doubt.
Later, the General Manager invited Mr. Isikaku to his office. He said all sorts of evil things against the MD, accusing him of victimizing Mr. Isikaku. He recorded the conversation because he wanted to use it against Mr. Isikaku.
Fortunately, Mr. Isikaku didn’t say any bad thing against the MD. He tried to convince the General Manager that their MD was a good man.
The next day, MD invited the General Manager to his office and pointed to the screen. The conversation he had with Mr. Isikaku was playing on the screen.
The MD had secretly Installed a surveillance camera in all the offices in his company. He suspected that some members of his staff where running down the company.
That was how the General Manager lost his job. Mr. Isikaku was promoted to take over his position which was higher than what the MD proposed initially for him.
As you go about your duty today, be careful of those that will want lure you into unnecessary discussions and gossips. It may be a trap to lure you into saying things that will be used against you.
Keep being good. keep being yourself. If they keep pushing you, they will certainly push you into a better place.
