“Michal ! Michal !! Michal !!!, How many times did I call you?”
You understand the importance of the ark of the Lord. You are aware that everyone had been eagerly awaiting the return of the ark. You also know that the much awaited day had finally arrived. But while those that appreciate good things were dancing and escorting back the ark, you were inside the house. (2 Sam 6:11-20)
“Were you sick?”
“No”
“Alright, I understand. You were feeding your children”
“Not at all”
Michal, you were busy, peeping through the window, searching for reasons to criticize. Nobody is forcing you to applaud. But must you condemn?
Mr. protocol officer, sister due process. Though you have an eagle eye for dictating when things are going wrong, why not consider doing that criticism in a constructive way. If you do, much people will not be offended.
Remember, the bible said that our words ought to be seasoned with salt. (Colossians 4:6)
Have you ever been embarrassed in a public place? How did you feel? You would never feel good about it. That special way you want to be treated, do same to others. You have a unique way you desire to be addressed, it is not a bad idea if you address other people in that manner.
Even if you are not an award winning dancer, that should not make dancing a sin. It is not right to criticize those that wear new clothes because you cannot afford it; for now.
Life is in stages. Time shall come when your wardrobe shall be filled with different kinds of quality clothes. Even if you are not interested in buying clothes that much; people whom your life have affected theirs positively may buy for you. At that point, you had no choice than to wear it in other to please them. That is why you need to guide your tongue now. Remember that whatever you said might be used against you by the time you later join the league of people that dress gorgeously.
You may have wondered why, even some people that detest seeing this attitude in others still exhibit it. The answer is simple: It is a spirit.
- The spirit of Michal is the spirit of fault finding.
- The spirit of Michal is the spirit of ‘I am the best’
- The spirit of Michal is the spirit of ‘If I don’t shine, no other person will shine’.
- The spirit of Michal is the spirit of ‘I am the one that ought to be there’.
- The spirit of Michal is the spirit that detests correction.
- The spirit of Michal is the spirit of ‘I am wise; whereas others are foolish’.
I pray for you today even as I pray for myself too, that God will uproot the spirit of Michal from within us. May he embed us with the spirit of Aaron and Hur (Exodus 17:12) who encouraged, strengthened the hands of Moses and brought victory to God’s people.
Their names might not have entered the achievers book of record in their generation but I am assured of one thing. God will always raise those to support such people’s cause.
Let us pray!
