“Lord please, if you want to kill any one, do not borrow my knife”, This was the constant prayer of one of my mummies and who was also my Sunday school teacher. She was always praying that prayer that it sank inwards me. I might have forgotten many things she taught, but this never left me.
She always tell us that even if someone is suffering because the person has done wrong or offended God, we should not mock or rejoice. Even if the person need to be disciplined, we must not be the tool for the discipline.
If God want to deal with anybody, He know how best to deal with that person. Even the church authority know the best way to discipline their erring members. We should not always make our mouth readily available to criticize and let the whole world know that such person is suffering because he has sinned against God.
Even if God has decided that a particular person must die , you must not be the person to pull the trigger. He/ she can still die even you did not try to help God.
“He has offended God, that is why he is suffering” What is your business? Are you the one he offended? Why are you taking it personal? Why have you turned your fellow member into an object of mockery? Did God send you or you decided to send yourself?
In the case of David and king Saul in the bible, Everyone would have justified David if he had killed Saul. After all God had already rejected Saul .
Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time. And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD’s anointed, and be guiltless? David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle , and perish. (1Sam 26:8-10 KJV)
David rejected what many would have termed a golden opportunity. He was able to differentiate between when the battle is his and when the battle is the Lords.
I remember a time in the past, when if a member err, other members would be in tears. Even if the church authority decides to discipline the erring member, other members would be in tears, begging for forgiveness. But this day, it is no longer the same. It would be turned to a topic of gossip and mockery. We stand in the place of God and execute the judgment. At the end, such member would backslide.
It was already written that the son of man must die. His death was necessary for the redemption of mankind. However if you read the places where the prophesies were made in the old testament no body mentioned Judas Iscariot. However he decided to help in the fulfillment of the prophecy. Nobody hailed him for His effort. Instead, he paid dearly for it.
Even today, there are still some prophecies that need to be fulfilled. Another Judas might also be needed . You can decide to yield yourself to be used. Of course you know the consequence.
But I prefer the kind of prophecy fulfillment that Mary represents. Such opportunity is still available today. We can either chose to be a Judas or a Mary. The choice is ours but I advise that we chose wisely.
Let us pray!
