Leader: We have come to the end of today’s programme. Sister A please lead us in closing prayer.
Sister A: In Jesus name. Father we thank you for the success of this programme. As we go; we cover our way with the blood of Jesus. Those, that don’t have food to eat tonight, provide for them. In Jesus name we’ve prayed.
I noticed that whenever that sister was asked to pray, she always pray that God should provide food for those that don’t have food to eat; for the day. I never understood the importance of that prayer until a day that I went for the same programme, not knowing how my next meal would come.
On that particular day our leader was the person that led the closing prayer. He prayed, asking God to provide food for those that don’t have. We all said Amen, but mine was deep and sincere.
Unknown to me, even before that prayer was made, God has already performed a miracle for me. But I came to the understanding that some people I met on daily basis may not be sure of their next meal.
Sometimes you cry out in pain that people don’t understand you. The more you want to make them understand you, the more frustrated you might become. The reason is that you might be dealing with someone that had never experienced what you are passing through. If that is the case, how can he/she truly understand?
The bible recorded in Genesis 16: 4 that when Hagar saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes. Have you ever wondered why Hagar started insulting Sarah immediately she became pregnant? It was because she was able to achieve what Sarah had been struggling to achieve for years.
She never experienced the sleepless night and tears that Sarah had. She never knew the frustration that made Sarah agree to share her husband with a maid. She might have wondered why something that was so easy for her, was so hard for Sarah. This made her to conclude that Sarah was not worth being her mistress.
For some months, I saw myself in a situation that was strange to me. I was so choked up with work that I could not do the things I used to do. The more I tried to detangle myself, the busier I became.
The only one I could sincerely pour out my heart to, was God. At first, it was as if God was not hearing my cry. But recently I started seeing rays of light at the end of the tunnel. I might not have gotten it the way I wanted but the fact that I have time to write this, is a sign that things have improved a bit.
I never knew that one day, my prayer point would be that I needed TIME to gather with my brethren. That is how somebody beside you may not really understand that the problems you are passing through exist. Don’t blame him/her because, you might have misunderstood another person at one point or the other.
But there is a God who understands. Can you take out a minute and tell him about the challenge you are facing. If you are need someone to sympathize and also empathize with you, then talk to God.
He understands poverty because he was the son of a carpenter. He understands hunger because lived without food for a period of 40 days and 40 nights. He understands pain because he was whipped and forced to wear a crown of thorns. Then he suffered the height of humiliation when he hung naked on the cross of Calvary.
Instead of moving about looking for who will understand your situation, why not talk to God. He is waiting to hear your voice today concerning that situation.
We have been doing it, let’s do it again. Let’s cry out to him. Even if it seems that he is not hearing our cry, let’s not give up. We will surely conquer, if we did not despair. Join me as we sing this song, written by Joseph M. Scriven
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
Oh, what peace we often forfeit
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer
Father I come to you today please hear my cry.
