Another time, Elisha was on his way to Bethel and some little kids came out from the town and taunted him, “What’s up, old baldhead! Out of our way, skinhead! Elisha turned, took one look at them and cursed them in the name of the Lord. Two bears charged out of the underbrush and knocked them about, ripping them limb from limb- forty-two children in all! (2 Kings 2:23-24 MSG)
Some group of children decided to show their talent of mockery on Prophet Elisha. May be they felt that he was making so much wave and decided to showcase his downside. Or they had seen other people taunt prophets and go scot free so they decided to do theirs.
But they were not so lucky. The judgment of God came so quick and fierce to serve as a warning to us. Did we learn from that?
In our world today, many things are happening; people insult men of God at random. Some hide under the guise that there are many false prophets. If there are fake prophets then it means that there are genuine prophets of God. Should that not serve as a caution for us to thread softly so as not to bite more than we can swallow.
Many bloggers now see writing about men of God as quick means of dragging traffic to their blog. They write unfounded stories and twist some stories in way that make people to heap insults on men of God at the comment section.
Whenever you see that tag “PASTOR” beware! It is not compulsory to be a fan of any pastor. However you are not permitted to hate them. If you think that any pastor is committing sin pray for him if you wish, give advice if you can but don’t criticize, don’t judge. Let the one that call them be the judge.
May we never forget that anyone that despises a prophet of God despises God. Think of the consequence before you taunt a man of God. That an opinion is popular does not make it right. That everybody is doing it does not make it good.
The mouth is yours, you can say whatever you like. The pen is yours, you can as well write whatever you wish. The internet is free for all of us, as far as you have data. But before you take off, consider your landing.
God bless you!
