Stanford was still standing where Itohan and Eric left him when Osas came to meet him.

“O boy what is going on. Why are you standing, looking helpless”

Stanford pointed at Eric and Itohan as they were walking away.

“What happened to them. Have you turned deaf and dumb?” Osas asked in anger.

” I.T just told me that she is no longer interested in the relationship,”

“No problem, let’s go home,” Osas said, sounding unconcerned.

“Just like that?” Stanford asked.

“Don’t worry stay here. I am leaving you o,” Osas threatened.
On a closer look at Stanford, Osas discovered that tears have gathered in his eyes.

“O boy don’t worry yourself. Itohan cannot leave you. It’s like you don’t know how that girl loves you. She is still angry about what you did. Just get a gift and go and beg her. She will accept it,” Osas advised.

“Osas its more than what you think. Itohan is already in a relationship with Eric,” Stanford said in tears.

“It’s a lie. It cannot happen,” Osas said firmly.

“It has already happened. As I was talking with Itohan, Eric came here and whisked her away. Even when Itohan told him to give her few minutes to round off with me, he refused. He cannot do that, if nothing is going on between them.”

“What nonsense is going on with them ? How would you allow that to happen? You allowed Eric to come here and take away your girl. Who is he? Who gave birth to Eric.” Osas made an attempt to go and meet Eric in the car but Stanford stopped him.

“Osas please calm down. This is the house of God. ”

“I know but what Eric just did does not make sense. I need to let him know,” Osas stressed.

“No you don’t have to . I caused the whole thing. If I have not created the gap, Eric wouldn’t have come in,” Stanford said sadly.

“You didn’t cause anything. In fact I should be thanking God that this happened. At least it will make you to know her true colour,” Osas said firmly.

“I don’t want to loose Itohan. I love her,” Stanford spluttered in tears.

“Then go for her.” Osas advised.

Itohan was not comfortable with the way things were going between him and Eric. His bossy attitude was one of the things she never wanted in marriage. She had wished to marry a friend. That was what Stanford had been to her. It made her to be having a mixed feeling concerning the relationship. She was lost in thought when Zina came to meet her.

“The latest bride. The beautiful bride to a handsome and rich young man” Zina hailed her.

Itohan looked up and sighed.

“I.T what is going on. You don’t look happy,” Zina inquired.

“My dear. You are right. All my life, one of my ernest prayer is that I don’t want to make mistake in marriage,” Itohan explained.

“Me too. Thank God we have gotten it right. Look at your fiance and mine , both are handsome and rich. Infact, by the time everyone gets to know that Eric wants to marry you. We will be become the envy of all the girls.” Zina said joyfully.

“Do you think that not making mistake in marriage is all about marrying a rich man?” Itohan asked.

“What else. What mistake is more than marrying a man that will allow you to carry a child on your back and go to hawk bread and satchet water. My dear, that is the greatest mistake in marriage ,” Zina said firmly.

“My dear, I have a contrary view. I think one should marry a man that will allow you to have a say in the relationship. Not a man that claims that he knows it all. A man that will support you to fulfill God’s purpose for your life. I saw that man in Stanford,” Itohan said, trying to counter what Itohan said.

“I.T I’m sorry to say this. You need to correct your eyesight. You have a bad sight. What can a poor man offer to you? Was it not frustration that made him say that he would not marry you again?”

“You are wrong. It was an attack on our relationship. God showed me that thing before it happened. I took it lightly. I didn’t pray about it. I am really afraid about my relationship with Eric. Firstly, God is silent. He is not talking to me. Secondly I am seeing negative signs.”

“There is no negative sign. It is all in your imagination. The problem is that you are comparing a rich man and a poor man. It does not work that way. The two cannot behave the same. A rich man talks and acts like a rich man. While a poor man acts and speaks like a poor man. If he becomes rich tomorrow, his attitude will change. It is better you marry a rich man. From the beginning, you will know his attitude. Stanford is behaving like a good person today because he does not have money. If money comes tomorrow, you may not know what he will turn to,” Zina explained.

“Zina, your speech sounds sweet, but I am not really convinced,” Itohan told her and let out a long sigh.

“Don’t worry be waiting for a convincing speech till all those girls in your church snatched Eric from you. May God help you to know the importance of what you have before you loose it,” Zina concluded.

Stanford tried his best to see if he could regain Itohan’s love. All the efforts seem like water poured on a stone. He continued until Eric and Itohan did something that made him decide to forget about her.
