Stanley laid on the couch on his sitting room, scrolling his phone, then he noticed that Tega dropped a message on WhatsApp. He checked and it was pictures of suit.

“What is meaning of this? Has Tega started selling clothes?” he thought.

The door opened suddenly and Tega stepped in.

“My main man,” Tega hailed him.

“Oghenetega! How many times have I warned you to knock on the door before coming in? Why do you always badge into my house?” Stanley asked in a feigned anger.

“My landlord please, don’t be offended. I ran in out of excitement.”

“What is cause of you excitement?”

“Did you see the pictures, I sent to you?”

“Yes, I did. What about it?” Stanley asked curiously.

“Those designs are the reigning designs for wedding? One of my guys sent them to me. I decided to forward them to you, so that we can make our choice.”

Stanley suddenly felt disappointed. The answer was not what he was expecting.

“I don’t understand you. If you want to make choice for your wedding suit, it should be between you and your fiancee or even your best man. What is my business?”

“Stanley I never told you that I’m about to wed. It is your wedding with Nnenna that I am talking about.”

Stanley could not believe what he heard. “Tega please, can you stop stalking me. I have never discussed any wedding arrangement with you. Even if I decide to wed today, nothing concerns you with the suit I want to wear,” Stanley told him bluntly.

“Now listen to me. Your wedding concern me hundred percent because I am your best man. I should have a say concerning the suit, that we will wear,” Tega said firmly.
Stanley busted out laughing.

“Wonders shall never end. Tega is already applying for the position of a best man, even when I don’t have a bride.”

“O boy, calm down let’s choose the suit that we will wear, let’s stop wasting time.”

“Tega what is it? Why did you decide to stress me this evening?”

“There is nothing like stress. Since you have refused to tell me stage of things, I have to take the bull by the horn. But then I have to tell you that some moves that Femi is making around Nnenna is not ordinary. If you know that you are really interested in that girl, you better act fast.”

“Are you serious? ” Stanley asked with a curious expression on his face.

“Yes, Femi is interested in her. Just this afternoon, he pleaded with me to escort her to Chinasa’s place. I told her that I can’t make it. I knew that he wanted to go and see Nnenna. The truth is that lots of people are interested in that girl, including me.”

“Tega! What did you just say?” Stanley asked, raising the tone of his voice.

“What did you hear? Are you surprised? Nnenna is beautiful and respectful too. Many young men are interested in her. I don’t know why are dragging your legs.”

“Actually, we are getting on well. I just felt we should get to know ourselves better,” Stanley informed him.

“Let me tell you the truth, delay is dangerous. Just pop the question and wait for her reaction. The way Femi is going, the guy may double cross you if you delay. I think you should do the right thing by telling her that you want to marry her. I don’t think Nnenna will turn you down.”

“You think so?”

“I know so,” Tega assured him.

The last words really helped in calming Stanley down.

“Thanks so much.” Stanley smiled in relief.

“Back to the issue of being your best man, do we have a deal?”

“No deal.” Stanley answered and closed his eyes.

“Try it and see if I will not scatter your wedding,” Tega joked.

Stanley’s dad had earlier informed him that he was not going to be at the office on Saturday. Stanley saw that as good opportunity to visit Nnenna. He was surprised to discover that his dad’s car was in the office premises when he drove in.

He walked into the reception room and straight to Nnenna’s corner.

“How are you angel?”

“I am fine boss. Welcome sir,” Nnenna responded.

“Who is your boss,” Stanley asked while winking at her. Nnenna smiled.

“Is dad in office?” He asked softly.

“Dad?” Nnenna asked because she didn’t understand what Stanley meant.

“Yes, dad,” Stanley insisted.

“Are you asking of my MD?” Nnenna asked.

“Yes I am asking of our dad, your MD.”

“Oh! He is around. I’m so sorry, I didn’t know that he was
the one you were asking of. You can go and see him ,”

Nnena said as she pushed him away playfully from her corner.

“Let me say hello to him, I will be back.”

Nnenna nodded and gave him a soft smile.

As Cynthia was watching them, tears flowed freely from her eyes.”God when,” she cried in her heart. “I wish that I am the one in Nnenna’s shoes, I would have grabbed this opportunity with both hands and legs.”

Nnenna suddenly looked her side and discovered that she was crying.

“What’s happening to you? Your eyes are filled with tears.”

“Never mind. I am fine,” Cynthia told her.

“You can’t be fine. You are crying,” Nnenna insisted.

“No I am not crying. A fly perched on my eye when you were discussing with Mr. Stanley. It was so painful.”

“I’m so sorry. You should have called my attention.”

“I didn’t want to disturb you. But I am fine.”

“Dad” Stanley called immediately he entered his dad’s office and went to shake hands with him.

“Young man, what you doing here?”

“Ah! daddy. When did it become a crime for me to come here?”

“It’s not a crime for you to be here. It’s just that you have not been agreeing to come. I don’t know what changed,” his dad asked, steading his gaze at him.

“Dad, nothing changed,” Stanley asked while looking down.

“Are you sure?” His dad asked and winked at him.

“Dad! You are making me uncomfortable,” Stanley protested mildly.

“Since Nnenna came here, I noticed you have been frequent in this office.

I have been waiting for you to talk to me,” his dad said as he walked to fridge to take drinking water.

Stanley ran to the fridge to help him out.

“Dad you should have told me to get the water for you.”

His dad jokingly pushed him away.

“Go and answer the question that I asked you. Don’t dodge the question.”

Stanley busted out laughing

“Young man, this is not a laughing matter, What is going on,” his dad insisted.

“Dad, I really like her.”

“Hmm!” His dad rolled his eyes

“Dad!” Stanley called out.

“Son, you have not said anything.”

“Daddy, as I said, I really like Nnenna, she is different from other girls I have been seeing. So, I am trying to know her better.”

His dad nodded in satisfaction.

“It’s okay son. I have been watching Nnenna since she started working here. She is a good girl. I approve of her.”

“Thanks so much dad,” Stanley said joyfully.

“The pleasure is mine.”
