I was happy that I was able to escape from Nche and his native doctor but the challenge was that my problem was still with me. I became careful of who I complain to, in a bid to avoid falling prey. At least, I learnt a lesson from that incidence. My condition was deteriorating each passing day to the point that people easily notice that all was not well. That was my condition when I met Onyebu. He could hardly recognize me because I was a shadow of my old self.

“Old boy, is this you?

“ Yes….o Onyebu long time. How are you doing? You are looking so fresh and chubby”

“My brother God is good to me. But you are not looking good. What is the matter?”

“I am fine. Everything is okay.”

“You can’t tell me that. You know that I know you too well.”

I sighed and shook my head. It was like he noticed that I was hungry so he took me to the nearest eatery and asked me to order food and drink of my choice. I quickly jumped at the offer. I never pitied Onyebu at all. I made sure that I ordered enough food and drink . When I had my fill, I gave onyebu a piece of my story.

“ My brother life has been tough. Business is not moving at all. I don’t know if I am now carrying masquerade on my face. All my customers left me and start patronizing my neighbor. That is what I have been passing through. You know how toughs this city is. One needs a steady job to be able to pay bills. Mine has been epileptic, not minding that I am an expert in my job.”

“Your condition is really pitiable. You shouldn’t have kept quiet about it. You ought to have taken a step to correct things.”

My brother I never kept quiet. This problem made me to step my foot to the house of a native doctor for the first time in my life. They nearly barbed my hair. Thank God for his intervention.”

“What! You are lucky that you came out alive. There is no solution in native doctor’s place. Jesus is the only answer.”

“Really! Please tell me more.”

“I had already made up my mind to pack my things and go back to the village before someone invited me to their church. A very big church. Immediately I went there, I told the pastor that I am a tailor. The pastor is a very good man. He announced to the entire church that their new member is a tailor. He also encouraged them to patronize me. That was it.”

“Just like that.”

“Exactly, my brother. Another thing that helped me is prayer. That church can pray. I learnt how to pray and bind my enemies. Almost every night, I get up and pray. That was how God delivered me.”

“I think this is the way out.”

“Of course you have to join us. Another good news is that we don’t have a mechanic in that church. If you join us, you are made for life.”

“Please, how can I locate the church?”

Don’t worry, just give me your house address. First thing on Sunday morning I will come to your house so that we go together”
I joined the church. There was a total change in my life. Things turned to normal and even better than it used to be. However it never lasted long. I returned to square one.
