She was loved by many and well respected in the women forum. She doesn’t always talk, but whenever she stands to talk, her words are filled with wisdom. Her name is Ibukunoluwa, elder Gad’s wife. She was having sleepless nights because of the happenings in the church. The fact that her husband was involved made it worst for her.

She thought of who to complain to, but there seems to be no one because her husband was a stubborn man. An idea occurred to her. She decided to make her husband happy by cooking delicious meals for him.

Elder Gad came home and discovered that everywhere was filled with sweet aromas in fact he was salivating. Almost immediately, his wife invited him to the dining table.

There was pounded yam and egusi soup at a corner, jollof rice and salad at the other side. Three different kinds of fruit juice were also served. Elder was surprised.

“Woman, what is going on? It is not our marriage anniversary. Today is neither my birthday nor yours. In fact you did not even prepare this kind of delicious meal on my birthday. You decided to pay me back for not remembering your birthday so you poured one bucket of salt inside the soup you cooked that day. The only good thing is that we ate it together.”

Mrs. Gad busted out laughing.

“This man! So you actually believed that I purposely added so much salt in that soup just to get back at you. I don’t know why you have decided to make a big deal out of a little mistake.”

“Is it not obvious? You have been cooking delicious meal since the beginning of this year. Why must it be on my birthday that you will prepare only salt and serve? Another is that you even threatened me that you will pay me back on my birthday. Can you now see that it is not a coincidence? I hope that with this few points of mine, I have been able to convince you that you intentionally cooked a pot of salt on my birthday. Now clap for me.”

“Thank you sir, for arguing so brilliantly and winning the case. After all this is one of the reasons I married you. You are an intelligent man. Having said that, please I want you to know that I did not purposely add much salt in that soup. It was a mistake. After all I bought gift for you and you received it.”

“What did you expect? O! You expected me to reject that well-sewn senator wear.

Even if I was angry, I would not have rejected it. The only thing is that I would have collected it and kept it. Anytime the anger evaporates, I will wear the cloth. Don’t worry I have forgiven you. I knew that it was a mistake but I wanted to pay you back for all you did to me. You made jest of me simply because I forgot your birthday. It was so painful. But our merciful God created an avenue for me to pay you back. Having said that, I will plead with you to grant me the permission to start devouring this food,” he said while staring at her beautiful delicate face.

“The permission has been granted hours ago,” she said with smiles.

When they were done with the food, she asked for permission to tell her husband a story. He gladly accepted.

“Many years ago, when I was still studying in higher institution, my mother told me a story. It was during one of the holidays. She said that the event happened while I was away in school. According to her, a woman was moving from church to church with a message. She warned members to stop persecuting Pastors. According to the woman, God said that he is the one that called the pastors and he is the one that will judge them. He said that when many pastors die, members will sing that a saint has gone home but it is only him (God) that knows where they have gone. He warned that members should stop fighting Pastors for any reason. God is a righteous judge and he is the one that knows how best to reward both good and evil,” she concluded.

Elder Gad busted out laughing.

“Are you done with your tales by moonlight ?” he asked.

“Yes. Though, my narration is not tales by moonlight.”

“Alright, I have I have a question for you and the imaginary woman in your story. Where, when and how did she meet God? Did she die and resurrect or what. How exactly did it happen?”

“I may not have an exact answer to that question but I know that God speaks to people. If he could interact with people in the scripture, he can also do same to us because he is the same yesterday , today and forever. If you and I can consecrate our lives to him, he can still speak to us audibly.”

“Hmmm! Evangelist Mrs. Gad, please take it easy. If you want to preach, read scripture first. All the same why did you tell me that story?”

“Thank you sir, for that question. It is because of what is going on in the church. I am not comfortable with the role you have been playing. I am not a church elder, I don’t know everything that that is going on, but I must confess to you that our pastor is a good man. It is true that no human being is perfect yet our pastor is a child of God. I want to beg you to take things easy with him. Whatever the challenge is, sort it out amicably with him. Anybody that fights a man of God does not go scot-free. It does not even matter if the pastor has done something wrong. God will punish the pastor for the wrong he did, but the person that fought him for that wrong he did will also not go unpunished.”

“Woman you lie! You are telling white lies. So if someone is doing something wrong and I point it out, God will punish me. Please answer me.”

“If Pastor is doing something wrong, you can point it out, but not through quarrel or fight. There cannot be two captains in a ship. Having said that, permit me to ask you this question. What exactly is Pastor’s offence?”

Elder Gad did not answer her.

“Apart from elder Femi’s propaganda, can you really point out any evil that Pastor has committed. Please I want to beg you to steer clear of elder Femi. Concentrate and serve your God.”

“This issue is more than you. I will advise that you concentrate on things that concern you and leave church leadership. You are a woman.,” elder Gad warned his wife.
