Dera’s Dilemma (Episode 9)
After thinking thoroughly about her situation, Dera decided to do what her friends advised her to do. She met Ify and informed her.
“Dera, I am not the right person you should talk to. Go and talk to Cindy,”Ify told her.
“Ha! How do you expect me to go and meet Cindy? You know how my last encounter with her ended. I can’t meet her,”Dera said firmly.
“You have to. She is the person that has the connection. She connected me to my own people, “Ify informed her.
“Cindy is angry with me. She will not listen to me,”Dera lamented.
“Don’t worry yourself. This is Cindy’s business. They will give her a percentage from the payment. She is not doing it for you free of charge.”
“Really? Then it means she advised me to do it because of what she stands to gain,” Dera said .
“Are you for real? Are you not going to gain something too? If you negotiate very well, you are made for life. I trust Cindy she will surely connect you to rich people. “Ify revealed.
“But what of my baby? How will I just sell my baby like that? Are you sure that this will not hunt me all the days of my life?” Dera cried.
“Do you know how many babies you have in your womb? If you sell just one to solve your problem, it’s not a big deal. I know of someone that did this up to 3 times. Today she is stupendously rich, married with 3 children. She had to go for permanent family planning because she doesn’t want to give birth again. Those initial steps she took gave a better life to the children she has now. This is not sin. It is a business that people are doing to help themselves. I don’t support termination of pregnancy. But you see this, I support it with my full chest.”
“It’s okay, I heard what you said. I will try to meet Cindy. I only hope she will not chase me away,” Dera asked.
“No she won’t. I will tell her to come and meet you.”
“Are you sure of this?”
“Yes. Afterall, she has something to gain. Though what she is earning is not much, she is not working free of charge. Relax, she will come and meet you. I will just tell her that I have been able to convince you. Afterwards, I will demand that she follow you up.”
“Wow! Ify you are a darling! Thank you so much,”Dera appreciated her.
“My dear, it is nothing. It’s just a pregnant woman helping a fellow pregnant woman. Is it not so?”
Both of them started laughing.
After Ify left, there was a knock on Dera’s door. When she opened the door, she was surprised to see Grace; a member of her former fellowship standing there.
“Good day Dera,” Grace greeted.
“Good day Grace,” Dera responded while still wondering what Grace came to her house to do.
“Can I come in,” Grace requested.
“It’s okay,” Dera said and moved to the side to enable Grace to go in.
“Wow! Your room is so beautiful. It’s tastefully furnished,” Grace noted.
“Thanks.”
“I know you might be wondering what brought me to your house. I have a message for you,” Grace told Dera.
“It’s okay. I am all ears.”
“The Lord said I should tell you not to take the steps you are planning to take. He said you will regret it at the end.”
“I don’t understand you. Please can you explain further,” Dera requested.
“The Lord revealed to me that there is a decision you are about to make. You want to do something but God does not want you to do it,” Grace explained.
“What exactly, if I may ask?”
“I don’t know. He did not not tell me. I only say what I was asked to say.”
“Listen to me Grace. You have 2 major problems. The first is poverty. If you don’t change your mentality, you will remain poor, all the days of your life,” Dera cursed.
“I reject that curse in the name of Jesus. My God is not a poor God.”Grace said firmly.
“Shut your mouth . Don’t interrupt me when I’m talking. Your second problem is gossip. The earlier you and Ijeoma repent from gossip, the better for you. Now get up and get out of my house,”Dera commanded.
“Dera please. I beg you in the name of the Lord. Don’t joke with this message. It was not easy for me to come and deliver it…. .” Dera quickly interrupted her speech
“I said, get out of my house,” Dera got up, pushed her outside and closed her door.
“Ha! Dera you have suffered. The other day that Jeoma came, I suspected her. Now it has been confirmed that she came to get Information from me. Because I told her that I was pregnant, she concluded that I want to terminate the pregnancy. That is why Grace turned to a messenger and prophetess. Ijeoma will hear from me,” Dera swore to herself.
She quickly got dressed and went to Ijeoma’s house in anger.
Ijeoma was so happy and ushered her in.
“Girl friend, I’m so happy to see you, ” Ijeoma told her in excitement.
“Who is your girlfriend? How dare you call me girlfriend. I’m I in your class? Are we on the same level? Look at my shoe and handbag. I don’t want to talk about the designer clothes I wear. Can you afford them till you die?”
“I reject that curse in the name of Jesus. Dera, what is bringing this level of insult? Why would you come to my house to insult me?” Ijeoma reacted in anger.
“Where are you calling house ? Is it his place that is smelling. “
“Dera, godliness with contentment is a great gain. I am happy here,”Ijeoma said firmly.
“That is your business. Why would you send Grace to my house to talk trash? So because I told you that I am pregnant, you concluded that I want to terminate the pregnancy. You decided to go and gossip with your fellow jobless poor brats.”
“Dera I never discussed you with anyone. I am not a gossip . I lived with you for years. You know that I am not a gossip.”
“That was then. But now, what poverty and jealousy cannot do does not exist. I know you are jealous of me. You have been looking for a short fall so that you can laugh. I purposely told you that I was pregnant so that I would see your reaction. But you also reacted the same way I expected your poverty mentality to make you react, “Dera fired at her.
“Dera, if I were to be you, I would sit in a corner and think about my life. But God will not allow me to be you. I am not the cause of your frustration, don’t hang it on me. Please get out of my house.”Ijeoma lambasted her.
“Are you calling this place that looks like a cell house?”
“Yes, I am happy here. When you were in this cell and was doing the will of God, your life was better than now you claim to be living in a palace. Please leave my house.”
“I will leave. But you will hear from me. The battle line has been drawn, “Dera threatened.
“That battle is of the Lord. If you try any rubbish, the Lord will give you real battle. If I am innocent and you are accusing me wrongly, you will receive that battle you are planning for me. You will fight and get tired.”Ijeoma told her.
Dera stormed out of Ijeoma’s house. Because of her encounter with Grace and Ijeoma, he decided to quickly call Cindy on the phone to seal the deal. She attempted to reach her severally but Cindy didn’t respond.
” What is going on? Is Cindy not with her phone?” Dera thought to herself.
