A Painful Reminder

I was in a place where someone was giving a testimony of what God has done. Someone was sitting by my side. What gave birth to that testimony caused her excruciating pain. In fact the pain was still fresh.

After the testimony, my neighbour got up to give offering with other people. I know that people where watching to see her reaction. I couldn’t get up. My legs couldn’t carry me. The only question in my mind was WHY?

This testimony has been given over and over . Why bring it up again. Why this painful reminder. Her mood changed, I never talked to her, but that mood affected me too. A gathering of joy somehow turned to sorrow for the both of us. Some other people might have been affected by that too.

Your brother was sacked from work when he never committed any crime. and the position was handed over to you. You are aware that your brother is in pain concerning the issue. Yet , you decide to come and give testimony and he is there watching. What is your plan?

If you finish giving the testimony and they call for testimony offering, you put him in dilemma. If he did not give offering , people will say that he is in jealous. If he give , they will say he is pretending.

Two children were in a competition for a scholarship . one is your child and the other is the child of your sister in the Lord. Your sister’s child who is leading in the competition suddenly died. Your child who is second in position had to be awarded the scholarship.

You are aware that your sister is in pain, yet you came out publicly to testify of how God made a way for your child. While you were talking , your sister would remember that her child was supposed to win the scholarship. The worst part is that this child is no more.

No body is saying you shouldn’t thank God. But there are other ways to do it. You can still secretly drop money in the offering box. You can even meet Pastor and give your testimony and drop your thanksgiving offering. At least consider the plight of your brother/sister.

Paul told the Romans (let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. It is good neither to eat flesh ,not to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. (ROMANS 14:19,21KJV)

Why are we causing avoidable pain. we might think that it does not matter because we are not at the receiving end. No one knows tomorrow. Even if we don’t have regard for man, let us fear God. He may not count us as not guilty when we purposely make any of his own to shed tears.

Let us pray
