The previous day happening was still fresh in my memory and it made me moody. It was good news that Johnson still wanted me to come to his house but how would I face him. As I was still thinking, my phone beeped and it was a message from Johnson. He sent me his house address.

In the evening, I found my way to Johnson’s house using the address he sent me earlier. On getting to the compound, I asked a teenage boy about Johnson and he directed me to knock on one of the doors facing me. Just a knock and Johnson was out.

“Kel my man, you’ve made my day. Come inside.”

I followed Johnson inside and was amazed with what I saw. I could not help but compliment him on my observation.

“Bros, your house is so beautiful and big too. This must be a four bedroom apartment,” I said waiting for his confirmation.

“You are right. Please what should I offer you?” He asked.

“I don’t feel like taking anything. Please bear with me.”

How would I be able to eat food there, when I was yet to overcome the show of shame in my house yesterday? However, Johnson insisted that I must eat food because that was my first time of coming to his house. I told him to give me time to relax though I knew that I would not eat any food. I was in deep thought trying to find ways to explain to him that Jane was my past.

“Johnson please I want to apologize for what happened in my house yesterday. I am deeply sorry.”

“What are you sorry for? Is it because a girl came to your house?” He asked amidst laughter.

I was astonished that he was laughing over such a serious issue. My expectation was that immediately I stepped my feet inside his house, he would resurrect the issue and even caution me for indulging in such an act. It was obvious yesterday that he read the hand writing on the wall. The way he was taking the matter surprised me and I wondered what he was up to.

“Johnson I know that you read meaning from the scene that played out yesterday. That girl was my lover. I have called it quits with her but she would not listen to the voice of reasoning. She kept on disturbing me.”

“What is your reason for quitting the relationship? Did she offend you?”

“No! She did not offend me. I started the relationship with her before joining the church. As I started coming to church, almost every day, Pastor was preaching against fornication, I became uncomfortable. That was why I decided to do the right thing. My dear brother, I don’t want to go to hell fire.”

At that point, Johnson chuckled. I could not understand the reason for the laughter. I tried to ruminate over everything I said and could not see anything that will sound stupid to a child of God.

“Did I say anything stupid?” I asked in confusion.

“No Kel, you are making sense but time will tell.”

Almost immediately I entered Johnson’s house, rain started falling. It poured down in violent torrents and made me spend more time than my initial plan. As soon as the rain subsided, I took my leave; ignoring Johnson’s pleas to wait for the rain to totally stop. I jokingly told him that I was not salt that water cannot touch. Besides, I went with my car.

On my way home, I kept on thinking about the statement he made, ‘You are making sense but time will tell’

“Johnson was really acting strange. Does it mean that he is not a born again child of God? Could that be why Mummy warned me against him? Whatever the case, I have already liked him; his sense of humor and his generosity. Another is that he is humble, notwithstanding the fact that he is rich. I will hang around him at all cost. Though, I will be disappointed if I discover that he is not truly a child of God,” I concluded.
