Her name is Dera. She is the first among 3 siblings. Her parents tried their best to raise  her in a godly way. But everything changed when she was admitted into the higher institution. This is her story.

Dera was sitting on her bed shedding tears when her room mate Ijeoma entered.  She was surprised that Dera never recognized her presence. She was even trying to reach out to Dera but she didn’t respond.

“Dera what is wrong with you,” Ijeoma asked with a great concern. She had to move closer to her in a bid to find out what was going on. Dera lifted her face even as tears were flowing freely from her face. Instead of answering her question, she started sobbing.

“I hope you did not receive any bad news from home?” Ijeoma asked.

Dera shook her head and kept sobbing. Then, what is the problem? Please talk to me,” Ijeoma pleaded.

“I.J what is going on is too heavy for my mouth to say. If I say it. Every one including you will blame me. You will judge me. I never wanted to talk about it but my tears have betrayed me,”

“Please, talk to me. No matter what it is . I will not judge you,” Ijeoma pleaded.

“I am pregnant,” Dera whispered.

“What!” Ijeoma blurted out in shock.

Both of them were silent for a while.

” What is your plan concerning it?”

“I don’t know . I am confused” Dera cried.

“There is nothing to be confused about. You have to go and meet the person that is responsible for the pregnancy. Don’t you know the person?”

“It’s Clem”

“So what are you confused about. Invite him and give him the good news. I thought you said that he promised to marry you”

“Yes he did. I think the best thing is to visit his house and talk to him. What do you think?”

“Which ever way you want to go about it. Though I would have preferred you invite him to this place. If you want to go to his house. No problem. The most important thing is that he needs to know what is going on”

“Ijeoma thank you so much. I was afraid of what your reaction will be if you should hear about this. Thank you for showing me love”

“My dear, I don’t have choice. I tried my best to prevent this by giving you the right unfortunately my worst fear has happened. At this point, blaming you will not give me desired result. All we need to seek is solution.

Clem was hanging out with his friends when he got a phone call from Dera . He was so excited that he mistakenly poured away the wine in his cup.

” Guy what is wrong with you,” Mekus asked.

“My babe,” he answered pointing at his phone.

“Hello ,sweet angel. Where are are you?”

“I’m fine . I ‘m in your house. Where are you?”

“Wow! Just wait for me. I’ll be home in a jiffy,”

“Guy what is wrong with you. Are you planning to leave me here?” Mekus asked in anger.

“O boy my babe is waiting for me at home. You have to understand “

“Clem, I don’t like this. I’ve told you this severally. I never wanted to come out but you dragged me out. Now, you want to abandon me here.”

“Chill, I will make it up for you. Let me quickly see her.”Clem promised.

Clem had to enter one of the eatery’s to get peppered gizzard and ice cream for Dera because that was her favourite.

When he got home he discovered that Dera was not really excited to see him. He though t that it was because he didn’t come home on time and decided to apologize.

“Babe I’m sorry that I delayed a bit before coming back. Please,  forgive me.”

“No, it’s nothing. ” She appreciated her for what he bought for her and kept it in a corner. 

Clem noticed that all was not well but decided to allow her to spill the beans.

“Clem there is something I want to discuss with you.,”

“Go ahead I’m all ears.”

Dera was silent for a while. Then she said,” Clem, I ‘m pregnant”

“Clem jumped up in excitement. What! Tell me that you are joking?” He said with smiles. We are getting married,”He declared.

“No,it’s real,” Dera told him. She was surprised and happy that he accepted the pregnancy.

“Wow! You have made me the happiest man one earth. Thank God that our exams will soon be over. 

“Clem are you sure of this?” Dera asked trying to be sure of what she heard.

“Yea. Have you forgotten that I am an only child.  If it was possible for my parents, they would  have made me to get married when I graduated from secondary school”

“What!”

“My dear, it is as serious as that. When my mum calls on phone she would be asking when I’m bringing my babe home. Even my dad,”

“Wow! Your parents are lovely people”

“Babe I am blessed with an understanding parents. My mum is a wonderful woman . I see her in you. That was what drawn you  to me before I discovered other outstanding qualities. Now you are carrying my child. Ah! God bless you “

“But there is an issue. Remember that we still have one year to go. How are going to do it”

“That’s not a problem. The payment of bride price and the wedding will take place during the holidays, then we come back as husband and wife”

“Clem thank you so much. Do you know that I was crying. I was so scared of what your reaction might be”

“No babe, you don’t have to . I’m here for you”

Dera yawned and stretched herself. Clem quickly moved closer to her

“Sorry my dear. You don’t really need stress at all.Just relax, by tomorrow morning, I will take you back to your lodge.  But afterwards,   I will be the one visiting you. Whenever you need me just call on phone. I will also be coming to drive you to school every morning “

“You don’t need to, I am strong ” Dera protested mildly.

“No. Remember that you are carrying my child and nothing must happen to this baby.  You have to allow me to pamper you.”

Dera was so happy and counted herself lucky.

“Please keep off any friend that would advise you against keeping this baby. Please nothing must happen to my baby. Please do me a favour and carry this pregnancy for us. I promised that you won’t regret it. Do you promise to keep this baby? ” Clem pleaded.

“Of course I will never abort  my baby”

” That is one thing I love about you. Please keep serving God the way you are doing.,”

Dera held her head , complaining of mild headache and Clem advised her to sleep. While Dera was sleeping Clem left to meet Mekus.

” O boy what is going on? You face is not bright. What of your babe?”

” Don’t mind that stupid girl. Can you imagine that local fowl came to tell me that she is pregnant,”

Mekus laughed,” Congratulations man. So what did you tell her? ,”Mekus asked amidst laughter.

“Don’t you  trust me? I told her that She should keep the pregnancy because I want to marry her.”

“Clem, you are wicked.”

” No problem, she that decided to get pregnant for her fellow student is not wicked.”

” Clem you better calm down. You are the son of an international business mogul. Many ladies out there will want to get pregnant for you. “

“No problem,  I will shock both of you,”Clem threatened.

Dera was still sleeping when Clem came back, in the night. He woke her up and pleaded with her to take a medicine which he claim would cure the headache.

She got up and took the medicine. After taking the medicine,. Clem fed her and told her to try and catch some sleep. About 2 hours  after that, her stomach caught fire.
