Cindy went out with her friend; Gina. Her phone was in her bag, so she didn’t know that her phone rang. When she saw the missed calls, she knew why Dera was calling because Ify had already told her. She quickly decided to visit Dera in the company of Gina.

Dera was surprised to see her because she was already thinking that Cindy was avoiding her.

“Babe please forgive me. I went out. My phone was in the bag . When I saw the missed calls. I decided to visit you,”Dera pleaded.

“Thanks so much for coming. I was already afraid that you were angry with me,” Dera told her.

“No, I can’t do that. We have come a long way . Even if we quarrel. We will settle it. We are big girls,”Cindy assured her.

“Thanks so much for your understanding. Your kind is rare. I am interested in what you  told me. How do we go about it?”Dera asked.

“I will make my enquiries and get back to you. You are special to me so I have to connect you to rich people that will pay you very well,”Cindy assured her.

“Wow! That’s why I love you so much. I will be waiting for your feedback,” Dera ranted.

As Cindy was getting ready to go, Gina was asking for  food to eat.

“Gina please, time is not on my side. Is it food that you came here to eat?” Cindy asked.

“Please don’t disturb me. I am hungry. I have to wait for  Dera to finish cooking so that I can eat,” Gina responded to her.

“I don’t think I can wait for you. You can find your way after eating”Cindy told her and left.

As soon as Cindy left, Gina tapped Dera,” I have something to discuss with you. That is why I decided to wait. It’s not because of food,”she informed Dera.

“What is it,”Dera asked.

“Please, promise me that whatever we will discuss will be between us. I don’t want Cindy to hear about it,”Gina requested.

“I promise,”Dera assured her.

“I want to suggest that you should make proper inquiry about the people you want to sell your baby to. I prefer couples that have not given birth. They may not pay you much money, but they will love and take care of the child as their own.”

“Why do you say that?”Dera asked.

“I am afraid about Cindy’s clients. They pay huge money. So I wonder what they do with those babies. The worst is that they are always searching for babies to buy,”Gina informed her.

“I don’t really understand your point. Are you saying that I should not sell the baby or I should be careful of who I sell it to?” Dera inquired.

“Truely, I am not in support of your selling this baby. But if you must do it, try to secure the future of the baby. Hand the baby over to couples that have not given birth,”Gina told her

“How do they pay,” Dera inquired.

“They don’t pay much. They pay in hundreds of thousands,”Gina revealed.

“What of Cindy’s client?”

“They pay in millions.”

“That means that I can make enough money to establish myself?” Dera asked even as a smile radiated on her face.

“That is the truth. But I don’t advise you to go for it.”

“Why?”

“I am not comfortable with their mode of operation. I suspect that they sell the babies to politicians for ritual purposes,”Gina told her.

“Do you have any proof?” Dera asked. 

“I don’t have one,”Gina replied slowly. She was already becoming afraid that she had said so much. She knew that if Cindy heard it, she would be in trouble.

“I don’t like people that have negative mindsets. Why can’t you think that they sell the babies to rich couples that need children. Please change your mindset. Haba!” Dera reprimanded her

“You might be right. Please don’t be offended. Remember that you promised that Cindy will never hear about this,” Gina pleaded.

“Of course. I can’t tell her.”

Everything happened faster than Dera could imagine.  Dera was invited to sign the agreement. The money involved was mind blowing. She was taken to a tastefully furnished apartment where she met 2 other pregnant ladies.

The agreement was that she would never leave the compound until she gave birth.

A lady was employed to cook for them, wash their clothes and take care of their needs.

Immediately after signing the agreement, 50 percent of the payment was sent to her bank account.

Dera shouted in excitement when she received the money.

“Are you sure that I am not dreaming?”

Dera asked Cindy.

“My dear, you are not dreaming. The money is yours. Don’t forget that everything you need to be comfortable will be provided till you give birth. You will not lack anything.”

“Wow! Dera has turned into a big lady overnight,” Dera ranted in excitement.

“Girlfriend, you can say that again. It is a fact. That is why you need to follow someone who knows the road. Cindy knows the road. I am too much,” Cindy bragged.

“Yes dear. I will give it to you. But please, what is your percentage in the payment. How I’m I going to settle you? “

“Don’t worry yourself. They have given me mine,” Cindy informed her.

“It doesn’t matter. I will also give you something,”Dera tried to persuade her but 

Cindy laughed.

“Do you know how rich I am? I should be the one giving you money. Don’t bother me.” Cindy told Dera.

The entire months of carrying the pregnancy was blissful. Everything that Dera needed was provided. She was sending money to her parents and telling them how gracious the Lord had been to her in her job.

Doctors and nurses were visiting to take care of them. The 2 pregnant ladies left before Dera and another 2 came to join her.

In the 9th month of Dera’s pregnancy,one of  the doctors visited and informed her that she needed to visit the hospital for a medical check up. Dera went with them. The only thing she could remember was that the drip was fixed on her. She woke up in great pain. Cindy was sitting by her side.

“What happened to me,” she managed to ask.

” Congratulations! You have been delivered of a baby,” Cindy informed her.

” Ha! Is this how it happens? Where is the baby?”

” Dera relax. You were delivered of the baby through a cesarean section. You need time to heal.”

 The pain was severe but Dera managed to endure. The 2nd day, she felt a bit better and decided to ask about her baby again.

“Which baby are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about my baby. The one I gave birth to,” Dera answered.

“Are you for real? Have you forgotten about the agreement,”Cindy asked her 

“Is it why I was not even allowed to set my eyes on my baby, after all the pain,” Dera asked in anger.

“Dera your money has been sent to your bank account. That is all you should be asking for. Get well quickly and move on with your life. Just act like there was no baby. That was the agreement you signed.”
