The next day , I was in my workshop when I noticed Nedu and Nnamdi coming towards my workshop. I sat for a while to actually be sure that they were coming there. Upon the confirmation, I stood to take my leave.

“Iyk are you going out?” Nedu asked.

“It’s obvious I am,” I answered, even as I hasten my footsteps to go.
“But you can see that we are coming to see you?”

“Please, I am not in the mood of seeing anyone now. Make sure you don’t let this evil man, step his foot into my workshop.”

“Iyk you have to calm down,” Nedu pleaded.

“You are telling me to calm down. If you were to walk within my shoes, will you calm down? This wicked soul ruined my life. He caused enmity between I and the only man I call father.”

All the while I was ranting , Nnamdi never uttered a word, rather he bowed his head. After much persuasion, I reluctantly followed them back to my workshop. As soon as we all sat, Nnamdi started asking for forgiveness.

“Ikenna my brother please forgive me. I am sorry for all the harm I caused you. When I started, I never knew that things will get to this stage. The problem started from when you were involved in that police case. At the time that your uncle was running around to sell your land , I approached him with a deal. My brother wanted to buy the land. So I told him to sell two lands for us, I will pay fully for one, then give half payment for one. The half payment is his share of the deal. While the half not paid for would be mine. Your uncle blatantly refused. He told me that he can never commit such evil against you. I tried my best to convince him but he refused. At first I was angry with him but later it turned to fear. I felt that if the father and son relationship between you continue, he will reveal the secret. After coming to your house that day and you never believed my story, I was really afraid. However, I became relieved when I later heard that you were having problem with your uncle. That was when I realized that you believed what I told you. Please my brother forgive me. I never knew what came upon me”

“Did you just say I should forgive you?”

“Iyk you have to let it go ”Nedu told me.

“This man has caused me sorrow. He touched me where it pains most. There are some people we shouldn’t just offend in life but Nnamdi made me to offend such person. I am hurt.”

“Iyk you should be grateful to God that the secret has been revealed. At least, you can make amend. It is true that lots of damages have been done but you can also sue for peace. The man we are talking about was a man you told me that he treats you as his biological son. He cannot cast you away forever. The most important thing is that he sees genuine repentance in you.”

I thought of what Nedu has said and conclude that he is right. My uncle is a good man. It might not be easy to restore the love he had for me. But the journey of 100 miles always starts with a step. Whether I like it or not I will surely forgive Nnamdi. I don’t have choice in the matter. I got up from my chair went closer to Nnamdi.

“Nnamdi you are my brother. I forgive you. I believe you did all these in ignorance. These are the result of the absence of Christ in the life of a man. However, I implore you to submit your life to Christ . Allow him to rule and reign in your life. He has been showing you mercy. But you should not continue in sin that grace may abound. Think about it; brother.”

“Of a truth there is clear difference in your life. The transformation in your life amazes everyone. I pray that God will help me. I am tired of the useless life I have been living.” Nnamdi confessed.

“God will always help you. First is for you to confess your sins and repent from it. That is what you have started doing. Secondly surrender your life totally to him. Get a holy bible and study it daily. Then, become a member of a living church which will help you to grow spiritually. I will like to invite you to my church.”

“I will surely attend”

“Hallellujah. Please bow down your head lets pray.”

As soon as we concluded the prayer, Nnamdi received a phone call that he had a visitor to attend to so he left.

“Nedu, I must confess to you that I am confused. Where do I start, is it from my uncle, is it his wife, what of his children not to talk of the villagers. Even my biological mother is angry with me because of this issue. She warned me to tread with caution but I never listened. How do I explain to them that I had been wrong all along?”

“God will help you. He will direct you and be with you. Another is that he will soften everyone’s mind towards you. Everything that had happened between yesterday and today is God. First , he made Nnamdi to mistakenly reveal a secret he had been fighting tooth and nail to hide. Secondly, he also made him to feel guilty and decide to come and apologize to you. He will complete the good work he started in your life. Don’t carry a cross that does not belong to you.”

“ Brother you are right” I said in excitement. I moved closer and gave him a handshake.

“I will travel to the village as soon as possible to sue for peace.”

“Of course delay is dangerous,” Nedu warned me.
