Though I had packed out from my former compound, I felt the need to go and apologize to the landlord for the pain I caused him while living in his compound. He was surprised to see me in his house. However, he ushered me in.

“Sir, I am here to apologize to you for all the pain and heartache I caused you while living in your house. You trusted me but I betrayed that trust . I am so sorry please forgive me.”

“Young man can you go straight the point and tell me what you need from me. I have a meeting to attend. But before you start, I need to let you know that I neither have vacancy in my house nor workshop for mechanic work. Another is that I don’t have money to lend to you. Having said that, you can now tell me why you are here.”

The landlord’s presentation was funny. I could not suppress laughter. I believed that he detected that my mood was not that of someone that was in need of help desperately. That somehow brightened his countenance a bit.

“Sir, like I said initially, I am deeply sorry for every pain I caused you in the past. I had an encounter that changed my life. That encounter opened my eyes to the realities of my existence. It is true that I had been attending church before then, I never had a personal relationship with God. I tell lies, cheat and cause people heartaches. Few months ago, I met a man who opened my eyes to who I really was. Through him, God changed my life. One of the things I decided to do afterwards was to make amends. I deemed it necessary to come and apologize to you, especially because I did not show any sign of remorse when that incidence happened. Of course that was who I was then, I don’t feel remorse for hurting people. All the same, I am truly sorry.”

The landlord was still skeptical; he didn’t easily believe my story. He was about responding to me when his wife walked in.

“Ah! Iyk the double-dealer. This one you appeared today I hope trouble will not appear to us.,”

“No ma. I came in peace,” I responded calmly.

“Iyk told me that he has changed o,” Landlord informed her.

“Odi egwu. Ana amu aka ekpe na nka?(It is a lie, he cannot change. Can someone become left handed at old age? ”

“You may be right but remember that with God, nothing shall be impossible,” Landlord responded.

“Let’s wait and see then” she responded

The Husband and wife did not even mind that I was there. They were talking about me as if I was a child. It was not their fault; I was the person the fetched the ant infested firewood. That was why lizard decided to come to my house for feasting.

“Iyk, I heard all that you said. What of your accommodation. Are you comfortable with where you are residing now?”

“Yes sir. I have a comfortable accommodation. The time I left your house, I didn’t have enough money to rent even a room. I had to join money with a friend rent a room. However last week, God performed a miracle in my life. One of my customers was promoted in his place of work. Part of his promotion package was a well-furnished duplex. He offered me his former apartment which I gladly accepted. That was how I moved into an already furnished 2 bedroom flat. Everything I needed was there. Another good news was that I will not pay a dine as rent for the next two years.”

“This is really good news. I think I am beginning to believe your story that you are now a changed person. This kind of miracle does not happen by chance. It was divinely orchestrated by God to wipe your tears and also encourage you in the new part you chose to tread. I think the next step for you now is to intensify effort in getting a workshop.”

“Sir, I am not in a haste to get a workshop any more. Since my church members noticed the changes in me, they have started patronizing my business. I go to their houses to repair their cars. For the time being, I will continue offering home services to people until I get signal from God that it is time for me to have a workshop. Of course at that point, he will provide the money.”

“I think that the time is now. I am being led to key into the new move of God in your life. I will give you a place for your business.”

“Thank you sir, for the offer. But I told you that I am not prepared for the expenses involved in renting of workshop now. I need time to plan things out to avoid putting myself in stress.”

“Let not your heart be troubled. I did not ask you to give me any money. I will give you one year to organize yourself together. After that, you will then tell me what you can afford to be paying monthly as rent.”

I appreciated the landlord and left. When he finally took me to the place, I know immediately that it was the finger of God.

Even after God has turned things positively for me, one thing was worrying me. I have realized that Nedu was never my problem. It had also been proved that my uncle never planned evil against me. It was my bad behavior that caused all the problem. However, I kept on wondering why most of my customers like Mr. Abel left me. I was good to most of them. So, I wondered why they left in the manner they did. I never wanted to take that occurrence for granted so I decided to go to God in prayer. I asked God to reveal to me what exactly happened.
