When Lilly heard the news of what happened in the office, she was so happy. She had been contemplating of visiting Cynthia because of her illness. But when she received the good news that the trap she set has made a big catch she decided not to delay the visit.

On getting Cynthia’s house, she knocked on the door without getting any response. It was a hard blow for her. She decided to call her on phone. When Cynthia finally opened the door, Lilly was surprised at the sight she witnessed. It dampened her spirit.

“Why are you like this?” Lilly queried in shock.

“My dear, you have seen me o. I was almost gone.”

“What exactly happened?” Lilly probed.

“I was fine before I went to office in the morning. All of a sudden, my stomach started aching. I was on that, when purging set in. Within 20 minutes, I defecated more than 5 times.” Cynthia explained. Her voice was unstable because she was still in pain.

“Are you serious?”

“My dear, that was it.”

“Thank God for your healing. Have you heard what is going on in the office?” Lilly asked happily.

“I didn’t hear anything. What are you talking about?”

“Your colleague Nnenna stole MD’s phone.”

“It’s a lie. That’s not possible,” Cynthia said firmly.

“What do you mean by that is not possible. Were you there with her?” Lilly asked in an angry tone.

“Though I was not there, I know that Nnenna can never steal. If you are the one we are talking about, then I will believe,” she said firmly.

“Cynthia, is like the sickness affected your brain? Why are you insulting me?”

“Shut up my friend. Who is insulting you? Are you not a thief?” She asked amidst laughter.

“I will forgive you because I am in a good mood.”

“You can never be in a good mood, after spoiling mine,” Cynthia told her.

“Cynthia, please if you know where you took your bathe, go and search for your wrapper there. What do you mean by saying I spoilt your mood?”
Cynthia sighed and kept quiet.

“What is the matter? Don’t tell me that you are sympathizing with Nnenna?”

” Why won’t I sympathize with her? It is true that I am not happy that she has taken my crush. But there are better ways to handle it. I don’t wish her this kind of evil. I pray that they will discover who set her up. I strongly believe that it was a set up.”

“Cynthia, I don’t understand you at all. This girl has been giving us headache. I thought you will be happy that she landed herself into trouble.”

“The same headache Nnenna is giving me is also what you are giving me. In fact you are my rival as far Stanley is concerned. If I can relate with you well, why can’t I relate with Nnenna well? I regret some of the things I did against her. No thanks, to you tutelage.”

“Can you listen to yourself? You are comparing me to that village girl. Anyway, by the time I’m done with her, she will run away from that office,” Lilly threatened.

“Lilly, I hope you don’t have a hand in Nnenna’s travails. If I discover that you planned any evil against her, I will expose you,” Cynthia warned.

Sudden fear enveloped Lilly, she started thanking her God silently that she didn’t tell Cynthia that she planned against Nnenna.

“Cynthia, I don’t know what you are talking about. I did not plan against anybody. I am not even capable of hurting a fly. I was only surprised that she could steal MD’s phone.”

“Stop saying that she stole phone. You and I know that Nnenna cannot steal. She is a virtuous girl. We persecuted her out of jealousy. Nnenna is not interested in Stanley or even anybody at all. Stanley has been the one trying to get her attention. I will suggest that we concentrate on our lives, and live Nnenna alone.”

A message notification popped up on Lilly’s phone, she checked and it was their MD. She smiled after reading the message.

“What is going on? Why are you smiling?” Cynthia asked.

“MD sent a message. He requested that I should come to office tomorrow,” Lilly told her.

“Your annual leave is being interrupted. Haa! that means that Nnenna have been sacked,” Cynthia cried.

“Why did you like taking drugs over a headache that is disturbing another person? If she has been sacked, then so be it. Are you wiser than our MD?” Lilly asked in an angry tone.

“How can I be wiser than your MD? What do I know” Cynthia said sarcastically.

“At least you know that you don’t know anything,” Lilly teased her.

” No problem. But one thing that is certain is that anybody that planned against that girl will surely suffer,” Cynthia cursed.

” I reject that curse.” Lilly muttered to herself. Then she told Cynthia.

” I have to start going home. I need to get ready for work tomorrow. Will you be able to make it?”

“No I’m still weak.”

The next day in office, Lilly was shocked when she arrived and met Nnenna on seat.

“What is this foolish girl still doing here” she muttered.

She moved around the office trying to greet people and also show off her new dress. The senior staffs were cold towards her because they have gotten the information of what was going on. She however felt that it was because of the crime Nnenna committed. By the time she came back to her office, she decided to give Nnenna a bit of her mind by throwing shades on her.

“Why are people giving me cold shoulder? That a criminal from this office stole phone does not mean that all receptionists are criminals,” she said aloud.

Nnenna looked at her and busted out laughing.

“Look at this common criminal! So you still have the gut to be laughing in this office after the crime you committed? Or you think that I have not heard?” She asked Nnenna.

“Yes, I am still here because the office does not belong to you. It is a person you employed that you can sack. I don’t know why you hate me so much. The love in my heart will conquer you.” Nnenna replied with smiles.

Lilly was shocked because of Nnenna’s boldness.

“I hope that I am not just fooling myself. Are you sure that Edea did not give me false information in a bid to take my money. I will skin that boy alive if I discover that he lied to me,” Lilly vowed.

She heard a beep from her phone, she looked and discovered that MD want to speak to her. After speaking with the MD she slowly slid the phone down from her ears. The fact that Nnenna had not been sacked was a great source of worry to her. It made her to be wondering why the MD wanted to see her. In the next few minutes, she was inside his office.

“I’m sorry for summoning you so urgently,” the MD pleaded.

” It’s nothing sir. My job comes first before any other thing. I am ready to serve to the best of my ability, anytime I am called upon to serve.” Lilly said trying to create a good impression.

“That’s good to hear. I invited you for a reason. Yesterday, I discovered that you drawer was not locked. That means that you exposed the company’s properties under your care. Why will you be that careless?”

Lilly had a quick thought and arrived at a brilliant answer.

“I locked my drawers properly and went with my keys. Though before now, that was after Nnenna resumed work here, I noticed that someone was trying to tamper with that particular drawer. Since then, I decided not to be keeping things inside it because I suspected that the person might try it again.”

“That’s a brilliant move,” the MD mocked her. “But, when you noticed that someone tampered with the keys, who did you report to?”

“I didn’t report to anyone sir. I felt that it was not necessary because, I have removed all important items from it.”

“Why are you sweating under A/C? I hope that you are fine,” MD asked Lilly.

“I’m not really fine sir. I have been on medication. I decided to come because you invited me,” she lied

“Sorry for the illness,” MD told her, while still trying to suppress his anger.

MD dialed Edea’s phone number and invited him to the office. Lilly was thinking that MD was inviting someone to lead her to the clinic. Her spirit almost jumped out of her skin when she saw Edea.

“Edea, I want you to narrate everything you told me yesterday concerning you and Lilly,” MD instructed him.

“Sir , Lilly paid me to implicate Nnenna. She left her drawer open and told me to hide your laptop inside there. She wanted me to do it when Cynthia was not around so that all fingers will point to Nnenna.”

“Sir, it is a lie. Someone is trying to tarnish my image. Edea why are you doing this to me? Who paid you to destroy my image,” Lilly cried. She felled on her knees.

“Please sir, I am innocent. Have mercy on me,” she continued crying.
“I have an evidence of a huge sum of money your transferred to Edea’s bank account. What was it for? ” MD asked her.

Lilly’s heart raced. She quickly answered, ” For business sir, for business. Please, I am innocent.”

” Of course, you two are big time business partners. I ought to hand both of you over to the police, but Nnenna begged me not to do so. I am giving you 5 minutes to pick whatever belongs to you and get out of this company. If I see you anywhere around this place after the 5 minutes have elapsed, you will have yourself to blame. One minute is gone.” MD snapped, ignoring her pleadings.

Lilly ran out of the MD’s office like someone being pursued by a ghost. When she got to the reception office, she tried to regain her composure.

“You, I will deal with you. The battle line has been drawn” she threatened Nnenna.

“You have started falling, you will continue on that trend till you go down flat. The way you ran into this place, is the way you will continue running even when no one is pursuing you,” Nnenna replied with laughter.

Nnenna’s words awakened Lilly to the MD’s threat. She quickly ran out of the office.
