Vera flew into Nigeria for the sole purpose of reconnecting with Stanley. She knew that it was not going to be an easy task but she was ready to give it all that it would take.

Her first point of call was the higher institution that they attended. She went there, hoping to find someone that might know Stanley. She lodged in a hotel and kept walking around the school and asking question that made her appeared stupid.
Later, she went to banking and finance Head Of Department’s (HOD) office. When she entered the office, the man thought that she was one of the students.

“Good afternoon sir”

“Good afternoon beautiful lady, Please, sit down. How may I help you?”

“My name is Vera”

“Ah! That is a beautiful name for a beautiful lady.”

“Thank you sir. I am making inquiries concerning a former student of this department. His name is Stanley Richard. He graduated 6 years ago”

“6 years ago? That’s a long time. I hope all is well?”

“Yes sir. I have information for him.

“But this is not the right place to look for him. Don’t you know any of his friends or family?’

“I lost all the contacts that I have,” Vera explained

“That’s a pity. I hate seeing beautiful ladies go through stress. Can I take you to a serene place where you can relax and take some chilled drinks. Later, you can continue your search”

“Thank you sir but I am not in the mood for that. I really need to see Stanley.”

“Don’t worry you will see him. But I want you to know that I love you. Immediately you stepped into this office, a voice whispered to me that you are the bone of my bone. Please, permit me to take care of you. Give me the chance to prove how much I love you. I promise you that all your challenges in this school is over. You must graduate with first class. What is the name of your department?”

“Sir I am not a student of this school.”

“Oh! Anyway it doesn’t matter. What is important is the love we have for one another. I promise to change your life forever”

He stood to go and meet her. “Please get up and give me hug”

“What is the meaning of this nonsense? Why are you harassing me?” Vera shouted in anger.

“Baby lower your voice, Remember that I love you”

Vera quickly got up from her chair and ran back.
“Mr. Man, what is wrong with you. I will report you to the school authority”

“Will you shut up and get out of my office. Who is harassing who? You came into my office to seduce me and you are talking rubbish. I will call the school security personnel to get you arrested.”

Vera ran out in shock.

“O God please, help me to locate Stanley. ” She cried

As she sat thinking of her next action, she overheard two male students discussing about banking and finance department. She ran to go and meet them.

“Good afternoon bros, it’s like you are in banking and finance department”

“Yes. How can we help you? One of them asked.”

“I am searching for Stanley Richard. He graduated 6 years ago”

“Madam , are you high?”

“I don’t understand,” Vera responded in shock

“I mean, did they use Igbo to cook jollof rice for you”

“What is my offence? Why are you insulting me?”

“Madam ,you are the one insulting yourself. If you are okay, you won’t be asking me of some one that graduated from school, 6 years ago. How many years have I spent in this school? Or you think that I am a native doctor.”

“Don’t mind her, she has collected charm and is using it to talk to us. Let me tell you, are just wasting your time. We don’t have money.”

Vera left them and walked away in tears.
She was already giving up on ever seeing Stanley. As she walked back to her hotel room, he saw someone that looked like Stanley’s friend in school.

“This must be Mr. Mike” she thought

“Mr. Mike” she called.

The man stood and looked back. Vera had to run and catch up with him.

Mr. Mike tried to scan her face. He was sure that they have never met. Vera had to quickly explain who she was.

“I am Vera, Stanley’s girlfriend.”

” Vera! You are this big madam?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Nawao you just disappeared. You really caused Stanley pain”

“It’s not my fault. It was studies that took me out of the country. Please can you help me to locate Stanley. We lost contact with each other.”

“It’s okay. I will give you his phone number”

“And yours too, please,” Vera told her.

Stanley, was attending to important documents in the office when the ringing tone of his phone interrupted his activity. He checked and luckily it was an unknown number so he continued with what he was doing. But the caller was not ready to let him be. She kept dialing the number.

“I don’t know when people will get civilized. Is this person trying to force me to take the call”, he murmured.

He wanted to block the phone number from reaching him but he later decided otherwise.

“Hello.”

“Hello Stanley! This is Vera, your former friend in school”

“Really? Vera how are you?”

“I’m fine. I lost your contacts. I tried reaching you with your old phone number but couldn’t.”

“I’m so sorry for that. I was robbed many years back. The phone was one of the things that the hoodlums made away with . I had to buy another sim.

“It’s okay. I came into the country and ran into an old friend who gave me your phone number. Please, I will like see you before I go back to the states.”

“It’s okay. I will make arrangements for that,” Stanley responded.

” You can just tell me where you are, and I will check you up. Remember that we are old friends I mean no harm.”

“There is no problem. Please I will get back to you. I’m at work now.”

“Alright, thanks.”

Stanley dropped the call.

“O God please help me. Why is this girl showing up now. I don’t want any distraction” Stanley murmured.

Vera was Stanley’s lover in school. She gained admission when Stanley was in his final year. She was so young and naive when she came to the school. When Stanley met her, he convinced her of his undying love for her, though he had other lovers.
Vera was deceived by the care that Stanley was showering on her. He made sure that Vera did not lack anything good. Of course money was not his problem.

Because of Vera, Stanley broke up with the other 2 girls he was dating. But Vera didn’t stay long in the school.

Her parents had always wished that she would study abroad. Things didn’t work out as fast as they wished. She had already gained admission into university in Nigeria before the School in the states admitted her.

When her parents informed her that she was to relocate to USA, she told them that she was no longer interested. Her main reason was because she never wanted to lose Stanley. However her father insisted that she must go .

Two days after she left Nigeria, she became sick. Her parents thought that it was because of the long journey. They however took her to the hospital for treatment. After running series of tests, it was discovered that she was pregnant.

Her parents were mad at her. Later they insisted that she must abort the pregnancy, which Vera resisted. She was so downcast that she couldn’t even tell Stanley what was going on. Three 3 months later she summoned courage and tried to reach Stanley but his phone number was not reachable.

After three years, she travelled back to Nigeria with the baby against her parents wish. Her plan was to locate Stanley and tell her about the baby. All effort to locate Stanley ended in futility. She has to go back in disappointment.
