Itohan tried to wrap her head around the message that Zina sent to her husband but she didn’t really understand what she was talking about.

She decided to meet her and discuss the issue with her. All efforts to meet Zina proved abortive but Itohan was determined to meet her by all means.

First she decided to stylishly get information from her husband concerning the message
she saw.

“My dear, I have not been able to reach my friend Zina for a while. Please can you help me to reach her,” she pleaded.

“What are you reaching her for? I don’t want you to be getting close to that lady,” Eric said firmly.

“Ha! What is wrong with her? Have you forgotten that she was the one that introduced you to me?”

” Yes she did. Both of you were single then. You should know that you are now a married woman. You should associate with your fellow married women.”

“But you are still associating with your former friends, who are not married. Why would my case be different,”

“Dear, the truth is that Zina is not a good girl. She is too conscious of money. Uloma is better than her. You can continue your friendship with Uloma, I don’t have any problem with her. But Zina is Judas Iscariot. I advise that you avoid her for your own good.”

The way Eric sounded confirmed to Itohan that something was seriously wrong. It made her to intensify efforts to see Zina by all means.

She called one of Zina’s neighbours named Onyinye on phone and explained that she really needed to see Zina but she had been avoiding her.
She begged Onyinye to call her on phone and inform her whenever Zina was around.

When Itohan arrived at Zina’s compound, Onyinye knocked on Zina’s door.

“Who is that?” Zina asked from within.

“It’s me; Onyinye,” Onyinye answered.

Zina opened the door and was surprised to see Onyinye and Itohan standing there.
“Zina, how are you?” Itohan asked with a fake smile, trying to hide the anger in her.

“What do you want?” Zina asked with a frowned face.

“Are you not happy to see me?” Itohan asked with smiles, still trying hard to suppress anger.

“It’s not like that. It is just that you should have called my phone to inform me that you are coming. I have an appointment that I am rushing to meet up with. Unless you will stay at Onyinye’s house and wait for me. I will come back soonest,” Zina told her.

“No problem. It’s just that you didn’t even ask about the traditional marriage rites again?”Itohan asked in response.

“I.T please! I have tried for you and Eric. I have my own problems to sort out too. You and Eric should sort out your marriage,” Zina snapped.

“So you are now tired of me and Eric. But you are the one that advised me to give him chance,” Itohan told her in anger.

“Thank God you said that I advised you, did I force you. I offered an advice, it’s your choice to either make use of it or trash it. You made your choice, please live with it. Don’t come to my house to stress me,” Zina warned.

“You don’t need my stress. Was that why you blocked me so that I can’t reach you on phone?” Itohan probed.

“Yes. I blocked you. I am tired of you and Eric’s troubles. I nearly went to jail because of the 2 of you. The problem I am having today with Uloma is also because of you and your marriage with Eric. Please, You and Eric should face your life and allow me to face mine. Friendship is not by force.” Zina lashed out at her.

“Really! No problem, I heard what you said. We are already facing our lives but you have refused to face yours. Why were you sending Eric messages, demanding for money. What did he buy from you that you are demanding payment for?”

Zina was shocked but she quickly regained her composure.

“What kind of nonsense question is that? Please get out of my house. Is he not your husband? Go and ask him.”

“I should go and ask him?”

“Yes find out the business I have with him. If you dare meet me again to ask this nonsense question, I will give you a mark,” Zina threatened.

“The truth is that you must answer my question. You cannot lead me to this point and abandone me. Should we have a bet”

“I don’t bet with idiots, go and leak your wound. You better go and warn that fraudster you called husband to pay me my money if not, both of you will see my red eyes,” Zina threatened.

Itohan left Zina’s house in tears. As she was moving on the road, everywhere suddenly became dark and she fainted. People nearby saw her and started pouring water on her till she was rescucitated.

Luckily Mrs. Paul was driving by and saw her. She quickly pulled over at the side of the road and carried Itohan inside the car. She wanted to take her to the hospital but Itohan assured her that she was fine.

“It’s okay, if you insist. I will take you to the house so that you can bathe and eat. But you have to inform your husband of what happened,” Mrs. Paul told Itohan.

Itohan tried reaching Eric on phone but the number was not reachable. As they were still moving, Itohan saw Eric’s mother passing and informed Mrs. Paul. She quickly stopped the car, came out and beckoned on Eric’s mother.

“Good afternoon ma, “Mrs. Eric greeted.

“Good afternoon ma,” Eric’s mother responded as she kept admiring Mrs. Paul and her beautiful car.

“My name is Mrs. Paul. Your daughter in law; Itohan is in my car. She fainted on the way and was rescucitated. Thank God that I saw her. I wanted to take her to the hospital but she insisted that she is fine.”

“Are you trying to tell me that you allowed that badluck of a girl to enter this car? Anyway, she is not my daughter in-law. I don’t know who impregnated her and she is accusing my son. We are waiting for her to give birth so that we can go for DNA test,” Eric’s mum responded.

“It’s okay ma. I just want you to know that she is with me. We have been trying to reach your son on phone but we couldn’t. When she showed me that you are her mother inlaw, I decided to talk to you. ”

“She is free to go to anywere. My son is tired of her. Please note that I am not her mother inlaw,” Eric’s mum reiterated.

Itohan tried to step down from the car so that her mother in law could see her.

“Iye, Good morning ma,” Itohan greeted while trying to wipe her eyes.

“Bad morning to you . Continue weeping. This just the beginning of you tears.” She sighed and started walking away.

“I reject that, tears is not her portion in Jesus name” Mrs Paul prayed. She turned and faced Itohan.
“Is this what you have been facing?”

“Yes ma. That was why I had to leave her house and relocated to Eric’s house,” Eric informed her.

“Hmm! My dear, you need prayers. I pray that God will have mercy on you.”

Later in the afternoon, after Itohan has rested, she took time to narrate the story of what led to her fainting.

Mrs. Paul could not believe what she heard.

“I must get to the root of this. Let’s go to her house,” Mrs. Paul told Itohan.

On sighting Mrs. Paul, Zina knew that the tune of the music has changed.

“Zina what exactly is happening between you and Itohan?” Mrs Paul inquired.

“Mummy please I want to start by apologizing to Itohan. I never meant to hurt her. It is just that I find myself in a condition that is more than me,” Zina explained.

“What exactly is that condition that would make you to betray your friend in this manner?” Mrs. Paul probed.

“It all started last year,” Zina started narrating.
