The started searching for ways to get Ada.. Osadolor was very careful not to call Ada on phone because he felt that if he truely has a hand in Eric’s death, she would avoid him by all means.

The first thing he and Ese did was to make an official report to the police and they strategized on how to get Ada.

Ada was a sales representative in the company that she was working. She was in her office when she recieved a phone call from someone that claimed that she wanted to make enquiry concerning her companies product. The person further requested for her company’s address so she could come to the company to buy the product.

“Is it not better you make payment to the company’s bank account so that the goods will be delivered to you?” Ada offered her.

“No, this is my first time of doing business with your company. I am afraid of being duped. I will prefer to come and see things by myself. I will make payment and collect my goods immediately,” the police woman told Ada.

Ada gave her the address and she appreciated her.

The next day, Ada was very close to her place of work when she was accosted by 2 Police men. The showed her their Identify card while informing her that she was under arrest. After some resistance, she later followed them to their station.

Eric’s mum had not really been herself since the death of her son. They brought her younger sister to be with her and to comfort her. Ese concentrated on taking care of Itohan.

Ese was trying to prepare Itohan’s food when she heard the ringing sound of her phone. When she checked, she discovered that it was her mother.

“Iye, how are you.?

“My daughter, I am just here.”

“Iye please take it easy. Have mercy on me. Eric is gone. You are the only one left for me,” Ese pleaded.

“Ha! Eric my son is gone, Just like that and you are saying that I should take things easy. How will I do it,” she cried.

“Iye I know that it is not easy, but please, have mercy on me. Don’t allow me to start running around because of you,” Ese kept pleading.

“You will not run around because of me. God will not allow it,” she prayed.

“Amen!”

“Please my daughter, I want to come to your house. Let me see if that will help me to recover.”

“Wow! Iye I am happy to hear that. I was actually thinking of asking you to come. It’s just that I felt that you may not agree. When do you want to come?”

“I want to come this evening,” she answered.

“No problem. I and my husband will come to carry you,”Ese told her.

“Don’t worry yourself. I will come by myself. After all, the distance is just a stone throw from my house ,” her mum told her.

When she arrived in the evening, Itohan greeted her but she refused to answer.
Ese noticed what happened but didn’t say anything. Later, when Itohan was sleeping Ese decided to discuss it with her mum.

“Iye I noticed that when Itohan greeted you, there was no response from you. What is the issue?” Ese asked.

“I’m I under an obligation to answer her greetings? She is greeting me because she saw me here. Has she called me on phone since my son died not to talk of visiting me? ”
“Iye you are unbelievable. Have you forgotten that she lost her husband. Between a mother and a wife, who feels more pain?”

“Which husband are you talking about? Is it the husband that she killed?”

“Ha! Iye why are you saying this? Don’t allow a second ear to hear what you just said. Please I beg of you,” Ese replied in anger.

“So you want her to go scot free after killing my son? It will not happen. Not when I’m alive,” her mum vowed.

“Why do you think that Itohan would kill Eric,” Ese asked her.

“She killed him so that she could be free. That was why she killed my unborn grand child too. Where you not there when she was saying she was not interested in the relationship again. After squandering money, she is looking for a way out. She must suffer for this,” she reiterated.

“Iye, whoever is giving you this idea does not like you at all. Delete this idea from your mind. Itohan cannot hurt a fly.”

“It’s okay. I will try,” she promised.

“Itohan thought that her mum was no longer bearing grudges against Itohan. She didn’t know that she was pretending.

Fear of leaving Itohan alone made Ese to neglect her business. Because Itohan was showing signs of suicidal thoughts, people advised Ese not to leave her alone.

On a Monday morning, Ese had an urgent call from her place of business. One of her major customers insisted on seeing her. As Ese was contemplating on how to handle the situation, her mum offered to help.

“Why would you be worried about who wil take care of Itohan when I am here?” Her mum asked.

Ese looked at her with a corner of her eyes but didn’t say a word to her.

“Why are you keeping quiet. You said that you needed someone to take care of Itohan and I offered to help. Have I done wrong?”

“Iye, I prefer taking care of Itohan by myself. I am no comfortable living her with another person.”

“Is it me that you are calling another person? I don’t blame you. Go ahead and insult me.”

“Iye, it is not like that. You are misunderstanding me,” Ese explained.

“Then make me to understand you. I want to understand why I cannot stay with my daughter in law. Eric my son is not alive. Yet I cannot stay with his wife.” Tears started flowing freely from her eyes.

“Iye it’s okay please, stop crying. I will be going out now. Itohan is sleeping please, help me to be checking on her.”

“No problem I will take care of her,” her mum promised.

Ese was still in her street when she remembered that that she forgot something. She reversed her vehicle and drove back to the house.

When she entered the sitting room, she didn’t see her mother.

“But I left mummy here just now,” she thought to herself.

She wanted to call for her but decided against that when she heard some noise in Itohan’s room.

She ran towards Itohan’s room and opened the door. The scene she witnessed made goose pimples to rise all over her body.
